Skits to do on Pastor Appreciation Day

--

When is Pastor Appreciation Sunday?

Second Sunday in October --(Mark it on your Calendar!) Every congregation has individuals gifted in the dramatic arts. Presenting a skit would also be a great project for a Youth Group or Sunday School class.

--A Day in the Life of a "Super Pastor" - Have staff members present a drama of the pastor handling challenging situations. Make it funny yet positive.

--What does Pastor ____ do the other 6 days? This could be very funny but also informative.

--Remember the day when...

--What if there was no Pastor? Show what chaos might ensue if the Pastor wasn't available for problem solving.

--Present the Pastor with a creative and crazy gift bag. Publicly present each item. (EG. A bottle of "midnight oil" to help with the late nights of sermon preparation, 6 balls for juggling practice - busy schedule, pastoral "land mind" detector, some sort of survival kit, 5 smooth stones for taking on Goliath like challenges, etc....(you get the drift)

--"Will the real Pastor stand up." Have someone play the part of your pastor and have two other imposters. The responses could highlight the wisdom of your true pastor.

Pastor Appreciation Day

Note: Pastor Appreciation Day is the second Sunday in October. Some churches recognize October as Pastor Appreciation Month.

Spread the word ahead of time reminding members of the congregation that Pastor appreciation day is coming.

Ask the Sunday School to consider doing a song, skit or creative presentation in honor of your Pastor.

Take a picture of your church, place it on a large background and get members of the congregation to put their signatures around the church picture.

Give your pastor a gift certificate (for books) from the local Christian Book store. Buy a book but don't check up to see if it's been read.

Give the family a gift certificate for a family dinner.

Send the pastor and spouse on a cruise. (I realize not all congregations can afford this!)

Tell them that you appreciate them and support their leadership.

Send them a card, a phone call, an Email, some muffins, some compliments, etc.

If they don't have it already, buy them a years subscription to Leadership Magazine (Published by Christianity Today)

Publicly affirm them. But don't place expectations too high: "You are the perfect Pastor...we know you'll never let us down."

Have some fun. Present a trophy or a plaque to your pastor during the Sunday service
