"Our struggle is not with flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Eph. 6:12

Prayer is effective . Ask your Pastor what key areas of church life need extra prayer covering. Get permission to pass these prayer items on to Home Groups, prayer teams and individual "prayer warriors."

Pass on anything received during prayer time. Be very sensitive in this area. Feedback such as "the Lord told us that you need to..." can be abusive. Ask God to reveal these specifics directly to your Pastor!

Invite your pastor and their family to your home group. Use the opportunity to bless them and specifically pray for them.

Key Bible Texts :

A Great passage to study is Exodus 17.
It's pretty well known. It's the account of the battle of Rephidem where Joshua defeats Amalek. As the warriors are led onto the battlefield Moses went up onto a hill in order to pray for Joshua. When Moses raises his hands Joshua prevails, but when his hands are down Joshua and his soldiers begin to loose. Aaron and Hur realize the key role that Moses has in the battle. They help Moses keep his hands in the air and the result is that they are victorious in battle. The success of Joshua is directly related to the prayers of Moses and in turn the support of Aaron and Hur.

Here are some other important Bible texts:

Eph. 4:11-22
"And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry."

Acts 12:5-7
"Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church...(vs 7) and the chains fell off his hands."

Romans 12:12,13
"...rejoicing in hope, patience in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer, distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality."

2 Cor. 1:11
"...you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many."

Eph. 6:17-20
"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints..."

Phil.4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be make known to God..."

Col.4:2-4
Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving..."
